It is located on the loxodrome from the

sanctuary  of Banteay Chmar to Banteay Prei Nokor via the geometrical centre of Angkor Wat . This loxodrome is determined by the lunar diagram of Angkor Wat.

The apsidal line crosses the intersection of the  Great North Channel  with the axis of the “grid-like” enclosures discovered by the “Greater Angkor Project”.

Remarks : Rm/Rd = 0.08333 ; D/Rd = 0.08333 ; Rd/Rs = 9

There are several relationships between the diagram of Saturn and the one of the Moon

(*)  The Ta Muen Thom  is located halfway between two other temples of the Dangrek Range  (Ta Bai Baek to the west and Ta Khwai to the east). The three temples are located on the same loxodrome. The latter crosses the northern Gopura of Preah Vihear.

(**) Beng Mealea was located on the intersection of this tangent with  a loxodrome running through the Saturn’s eccentre and tangent to the deferent (E) of the Chau Srei Vibol Sun

The solsticial line of Vat Phou is “broken” by the presence of the Phou Kao Mountain (N-W).  This should explain why two barays were constructed side by side. The diagonal of the south baray indicates the azimuth of sunrise at winter solstice over the eastern slope of  Mekong River. The diagonal of northern baray indicates the azimuth of  sunset at summer solstice over the crest of Phou Kao Mountain.
